Why not explore some of Croatia’s beautiful archipelago while you are here? From the port of Šibenik you can reach several islands.
Zlarin is one of the closer islands, it takes only around 30 minutes by boat. Here you find cafés, restaurants and a variety of beaches. This is a quiet, cosy island with not much nightlife.
You can book your boat tickets at https://www.jadrolinija.hr/en
If you want to go a bit further out in the archipelago, we can recommend the island Vis. The ferry departs from Split harbour and you can either park your car at dedicated parking space in Split or take the car onboard if you like. It takes around one hour by car from Skradin to Split and then an additional 3 hours by ferry to Vis.
We decided to stay overnight on our visit. First day we stayed in the town of Vis and the second day we rented bikes to explore the island further. Vis town is a cosy small town with nice beaches, small shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the promenade along the shoreline and also all the tricycles, really want to get me one of these. If you take the bike to explore outside the town of Vis, be prepared for the long uphill and few downhills that awaits you. But we managed to find a very secluded sandy(!) beach a bit inland.
The island of Pag is located 100 km northwest of Skradin past Zadar it is connected to the mainland via a bridge. By car it takes around 1,5 hours from Skradin to reach the main capital Pag.
It is a picturesque town with lots of historical features, small shops, cafes and restaurants. If you continue further out on the island you will find lots of open beaches to relax on as well as small villages, camping sites and various holiday resorts.
Pag island is known for its salt mining but perhaps furthermost, their famous cheese, Paški sir.
Expect this to be a full day excursion.
